Changing horses

I have decided to set aside The Home Stretch idea for now. As I thought about it, the idea of working for months on an intentionally dissolving marriage didn't have much excitement for me. I still think there's a good play there, but it's just not where I want to live in my imagination for the coming months.

And something that does have excitement, is really juicy, has popped onto the scene. I can't say much about it here. It's a secret. I like that about it, and that it is an open-ended writing project, not alone, but with a partner, that it picks up two characters we initiated twenty years ago, that it is full of mystery and possibility. It is a Sky's the limit kind of endeavor, and one with no pressure or rules to follow.

I think, if I refer to this new project here, I shall refer to it as Strangers. Short for Strangers in the Night. But I may not refer to it at all.

Today is Wednesday. I hope some Writes come in today.

  1. eww- secrets are fun! I guess. I never kept many. Watched an early film of Agnes Varda last night, which made me think of The Home Stretch -- so it may not interest you now. But it is a very lovely film- La Pointe Courte. Pre-New Wave.

  3. I'm out here too. You didn't delete a post, did you? I thought I read something else after "Changing Horses." Wondering if I'm crazy or you are -- posting at 5:40 AM?!
Indirectly inspired, perhaps, by your cottage cheese regimen, I'm doing a juice and smoothie semi-fast (this smoothie is divine: yogurt, cantaloupe, cayenne, & mint). Heading toward thinness, I hope, via the conventional route.

  4. Sara, hey! You are there too. How great. I don't know what time zone these posting times come from, but not EST. No, I'm not posting at 5:40 AM. Send me the recipe for your divine smoothie. Sounds delicious. Mine was good, but the oiliness got a little too much for me. But my blender is still out on the counter, and I'd love to try again with all non-oil ingredients.
I've been unfaithful to the blog this week, but I'll be back. Are you by chance in Asheville Monday? We are.

  5. I'm relieved to know that you're not up and at it in the wee hours. But I don't like this secret business -- I feel left out!

My smoothie is half of a very ripe cantaloupe blended with a cup or more of nonfat yogurt; the rest varies -- the first day it was a dash of cayenne and a few mint leaves, today lime juice and coriander seeds. But I'm going to try your smoothie, minus the oil -- on a whim I bought cottage cheese.

I'm now on a monthly basis with Rebecca and the next M/Th I'll be in AVL is 7/30.
